INFORMATION FOR UPCOMING TRIP:

We are thrilled you have chosen to challenge your students with the CU-ICAR Engineering Encounter. We look forward to hosting you at CU-ICAR!

Your visit will consist of three components:
1. CU-ICAR 101: an introductory workshop hosted in our AT&T Auditorium.
2. Immersive Lab Tour: Students will see inside the world-class Clemson University automotive full vehicle testing labs on our first floor. Download Lab Schedule here 
3. Deep Orange Challenge: In teams of 4, students will work collaboratively to create a vehicle concept based around a prompt. For complete instructions, click here.

 

Your visit will consist of three components:

  1. CU-ICAR 101: an introductory workshop hosted in our AT&T Auditorium.
  2. Immersive Lab Tour: Students will see inside the world-class Clemson University automotive full vehicle testing labs on our first floor.
  3. Deep Orange Challenge: In groups of 4, students will be tasked with designing a new Deep Orange vehicle.

Please note:

  • CU-ICAR does not provide lunch; please plan to bring a lunch; lunches should be taken to each activity as we have a tight schedule
  • Clemson staff will take photos throughout the day to document your visit; these photos may be used in a variety of media including web, print and social; no individual pictures will be taken and no student names will be used.
  • Please make sure that all participants wear closed toed shoes for this day.  If they do not, they will not be able to go into our lab area at all.

Schedule:

  • Group photo in the AT&T Auditorium
  • CU-ICAR 101: an introductory workshop hosted in our AT&T Auditorium.
  • Purple Group and Orange Group will separate from one another.
  • Purple Group will go on the Immersive Lab Tour first.
  • Orange Group will go to the TD Gallery to complete the Deep Orange Challenge.
  • Immersive Lab Tour: Students will see inside the world-class Clemson University automotive full vehicle testing labs on our first floor. (80 minutes total)
  • Deep Orange Challenge: In groups of 4, students will be tasked with designing a new Deep Orange vehicle. (80 minutes total)

Bus directions:

  • Buses should drop off students at the bottom of the ramp leading up to the Campbell Center. (Red circle)
  • Students may enter the building by walking up the ramp to the front doors with guidance from chaperones and our student docents. (Orange arrow)
  • After drop off, buses may park in front of the Koyo building. (Purple circle)
